Of major significance for the project development of a biogas plant is securing the site location. However, as opposed to other projects in the field of renewable energy, such as, for example, for wind power or solar energy plants, the site location process in the field of biogas can only be viewed in conjunction with the substrates that need to be available in ready supply for the plants. For the plants to operate economically on a constant basis, the substrates need to be cultivated in the vicinity of the plant. So, before we can secure properties, we always first secure the supply of substrates under conditions that make economic sense. Once this step has been completed, property purchase agreements or long-term leasehold agreements are completed with property owners. Ideally, these properties are located close to heat customers.
