 At the end of 2006, approximately 3,500 biogas plants were set up in Germany with an installed performance of more than 625 MW el. Experts expect the number of plants to increase yet again significantly over the next few years.
Experts assume that approx. 50% of these plants are only being operated under loads of 60% - 70% or even less, because there is a lack of both biological process support services by skilled professionals as well as the capabilities to technically monitor the plants. Furthermore, up until now, neither any standards for quality assurance nor any basic regulations have been in place, which would serve as basic principles for operating a biogas plant successfully and profitably.
With this information in mind, what becomes clear is that there will be a growing demand for companies offering support services, monitoring and maintenance of biogas plants .
